Supplementary Instructional Resource Kit – The Elementary Teacher’s Guide to the Gold Rush

Make your gold rush lesson even more authentic by including a real gold pan and genuine placer gold mined from Nelson Point. Watch the glitter in your students eyes when you demonstrate the art of gold panning and real gold is discovered in your pan. Also included in every kit is a copy of David Matuszak’s classic study of the gold rush, Nelson Point: Portrait of a Northern Gold Rush Town. ($19.95 value.) Use this valuable resource to further expand upon your California Gold Rush unit by reading excerpts to your students from the diaries of the actual miners from Nelson Point. Allow your students to discover for themselves what it was like to be a child in the gold camps and a student in the Nelson Point schoolhouse.

Each Kit includes:

• (x1) Gold pan (10 1/2″) and instructions for panning
• (x1) Vile of concentrates salted with specks of real flour gold
